HENDERSONVILLE – Roy Lee “Pop” Sexton, Jr., 72, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 1, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A lifelong resident of Henderson County, Roy worked as a glass mechanic with over 40 years of experience.  He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War era as a drill sergeant and paratrooper, completing 186 jumps.  Roy was a member of Upward Christian Fellowship, where he was a member of the church’s motorcycle club.  In addition to enjoying his motorcycle time, he was an avid sports fan.  He also loved his family time and enjoyed watching his grandson compete in any sport in which he participated.

Roy was the son of the late Roy Lee and Evelyn Luise Penley Sexton.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Sexton, and a grandson, Erik Rodriguez.

Surviving are his children: Troy Sexton, Martie Ann Rodriguez (Alex Parra), and Derrick Sexton (Cassie); grandchildren: Courtney, Abby, Briar, Gilbert, Nicholas, and Harper; great-grandchildren: Isiah, Kendall, Kaley, Alakai, Aleena, and Alaya; sisters: Ann, Brenda, Pat, Debra, and Teresa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Roy’s life will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Monday, March 11, 2024, at Upward Christian Fellowship Church.

Forest Lawn Funeral Home is honored to assist Roy’s family with his arrangements.

So sorry to hear about Uncle Roy! Sorry I could not be there today,I really wish I could. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Uncle Roy will truly be missed and I know he is watching down on all of us. I love all of y’all.

So sorry to hear about Roy I always enjoyed seeing him at church. He always had a smile on his face. God bless all of the family. He will be missed but heaven is a little sweeter now with another of God’s children at home watching and wating for our coming. Love and prayers.

It was a blessing to have met Roy at Upward Christian Fellowship. He always had a smile and hug for you when saw you. He loved the Lord. I know that he has been healed and with Jesus at this very minute. See you in Heaven!
