Born in Oak Park, Illinois, to the late Ernestine and Edward Kappler; Ab is also reunited in Heaven with his brother Erwin Kappler.

Ab grew up in Illinois, but made Hendersonville, North Carolina, his forever home where he dedicated thirty-five years in law enforcement. Henderson County is forever grateful for his service.

He was an avid fisherman and card player. Ab also enjoyed sports; he was a loyal to his Chicago roots by always showing his support to the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bears. In his spare time, Ab also enjoyed pheasant hunting. Ab had a passion for music; he relished in playing his piano and accordion.  Most of all Ab loved his family. He will be dearly missed by all.

A well respectful man in /out of uniform.
It was always a pleasure to serve him and the family at the Chicken Shack.
He was always the same. A man of true blue.
God Bless his family, you all are in my prayers.

I’d known “Ab” since 1976. He was a Hendersonville Police patrol supervisor, a great
guy ! I was a newbie deputy sheriff. He was always so kind & helpful. He loved serving his community. What a great guy, you’ll be truly missed old friend !
