Ward; two sons, Anthony and Jeff Ward (Cindy); grandsons, Hunter (Blaire) and Dawson; sister, Patricia McCarson; brothers, Ronald (Darlene) and Mike Stepp (Janet). She is also survived by a special great niece, Courtney Underwood (Brandon), whom she considered to be a daughter, and numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard in Fletcher, NC on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 2PM.

My sincere sympathy! I have wonderful memories of her. She always took the time to talk to me and to keep me up-to-date on her family, especially her brother and sister. And our shared memories of Grace Baptist were wonderful. She was amazing in so many ways! So many!
My heart is breaking. We were neighbors when we moved from VA, then rented a house near East High owned by her father, and ultimately bought a house near Barbara once again. Many memories of Grace Baptist, Flat Rock High, and East Henderson High, dragging Main Street, hiking and picnics…she was so much fun and so loving. Spent a lot of time at her home. She had the longest, thickest eye lashes!…and a beautiful heart. One comment I remember her always saying “Does this make me look fat?” She is truly a treasure and will be missed dearly. My prayers for Ronald, Mike and Patricia and all of her family. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel

Barbara was an amazing woman, I will never forget moving here and all the love and kindness she showed me and my family! Her love for us was unconditional and we loved her the same way! She will greatly be missed!! Until we meet again.
Barbara wasn’t only LOVED by her many, many customers who became friends on her paper route, also, many unusual experiences along the journey, I can certainly testify to that. She was and still is a very special sister in Christ of which we’ll one day see again. For a family, you have our sympathy and love as you continue this life journey with Barbara in heaven.
Prayers for Tony and Barbara’s children, Courtney who adored her and her sister Patricia and brother Mike and all the family. Have known Barbara for a long time and she was a beautiful person. ❤️
