Bernhard Lien Jordahl, 87, of Hendersonville and formerly of Illinois, Sterling, VA and Vienna, VA., died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Elizabeth House.
Born in Mitchell, SD, he was a son of the late Edward and Clara Jordahl. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Jordahl, Jr. and a sister, Constance Brue.
He served his country with the US Army during WWII as a Master Sergeant in the European Theatre Operations and had been employed with Woodward and Lothrop in Washington DC. He had lived in Henderson County for thirteen years and was a member of the Menís Garden Club of Hendersonville. He attended Washington National Cathedral for thirty five years and enjoyed attending various local churches, visiting the library and lovely gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Vivienne L. Jordhal; three brothers, Erling Jordahl and his wife Audrey of Des Moines, IA, J.S. Jordahl and his wife Virginia of Hendersonville, and Dr. David Jordahl and his wife Bitten of Habichtswald, Germany; sister-in-law, Lavelle Jordahl of Los Angeles, CA.
Inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be made to the building fund of Washington National Cathedral
