Bertha Steadman King of East Flat Rock went home to be with the Lord Monday, February 7, 2011 at Elizabeth House.
A native of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late Perry Albert and Katherine Missouri Steadman Levi. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Foy B. King; siblings, Robert L. Steadman, Charlie W. Steadman, Julian Steadman, Walter Steadman, Otis K. Steadman,, Carolyn Camp, Ruby L. Steadman and James Steadman.
She is survived by five daughters, Janice Moore Willis and her husband Ricky, Opal Morton, Gail Kramer, Debbie Allison and her husband Jerry and Wanda McMinn and her husband Tom; a son, Benjamin Foy King Jr.; a sister, Katheryn S. Pinto; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be at 3:00 pm Friday in the chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The Reverend Sherrill Moore will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 pm Friday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Wanda and Tom McMinn 132 Enchanted Hills Way Hendersonville. NC 28791 (off of Broyles Rd).

It seems only yesterday when I was working with Bertha at Coble Dairy. She put up with alot from all us teenagers but never got mad. She was a wonderful person and my thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I am so sorry to hear about Bertha. I remember her from my days at Eckerd’s. She worked the deli counter and always had a smile on her face. She will truly be missed. My condolensces to her family.

I do wish I was able to come down and be with the family. Aunt Bertha was a special lady and I will miss her smile, her laugh and her hugs. Please know I am with the family in spirit as we all morn her passing but celebrate her love and her life.
