Betty J. Rauch, of Hendersonville, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Carolina Village Medical Center. She was born in Detroit, MI September 24, 1927, and lived in Staunton, IL before moving to Henderson County in 1986. She was a daughter of the late Theodore and Ella Buhler, and the wife of the late Raymond Rauch who died in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Marino in 1993.

Betty and Raymond were united in marriage in 1946. She was a former volunteer with the Pardee Hospital Auxiliary, IAM, the Travel and Tourism Office, and the Hospice Thrift Store. She was a member of Lions Club International since 1987, and a member of the Hendersonville Lionsí Noon Club. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1987.

Survivors include, a son, Stephen Rauch and his wife Lucille of St. Louis, MO; a daughter, Patricia Eichorst and her husband Charles of Senoia, GA; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Juanita Netzke of West Virginia, a brother-in-law, Caruso Marino of Hendersonville; and two nieces.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Greg Williams officiating. Inurnment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF), 300 W. 22nd Street, Oak Brook, IL 60523, or Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

My deepest sympathy to Betty’s family. I have fond memories of Betty. She was our neighbor in Cumberland Village for several years.

Betty was a quiet,humble lady who walked in God’s Grace,doing God’s work whereever she saw the need.
