Betty Jean Corpening, 79 of East Flat Rock, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at The Elizabeth House. Born in Hooperís Creek, she was a daughter of the late Robert R. and Novella Brackett Allison. She was a longtime resident of Ravenna, Ohio, before returning to Henderson County in 1987. She was the wife of the late William Howard Corpening who died in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her son William Gean Corpening in 2006; two sisters Catherine Mahaffey and Allie Mae Gordon; and a brother Eugene Allison.
Surviving is a brother JC Allison; a sister Frances Crosby; her daughters, Dorothy Wheatley and Joann Hudson all of the Hendersonville area; a son Ronnie Dale Corpening of Ravenna, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Pastor Bobby Fisher will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and at all other times will be at Mrs. Corpeningís home.
