Blan Burgin Barnwell went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 15, 2015.
This lifelong resident of the Hooperís Creek Community in Fletcher was adored by so many for his kind heart and his never ending practical jokes. Blan is the son of the late Reaves and Ruth Barnwell. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Faye; a son, Keith; a daughter, Shelia; two brothers, Kenneth and Dallas; and a sister, Delores.
Blan retired in 2005 from the NC Department of Transportation as a motor grader operator.
He is survived by his son, Brian Barnwell and his wife Elena; their children, Travis, Logan, Jacklin, and Drew; his daughter, Olivia Jones of Whittier; her children, Timothy and Monica; her grandchildren, Aiden and Jason; his daughter, Robin Torres of Bethel; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a parcel of dear friends that he has always considered to be family.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Jeff Wilkie will officiate.
Papaw Blan we miss you so much. today was a sad day at your funeral. I just broke down and cryed cause we miss you so much but rejoicing that you knew the Lord as your personal savior and I know we will see you again one day. You would always tell our lil family if I didn’t have yall I wouldn’t have anybody. I hope you get all the chocolate pie you want in heaven :-). You were the love of my grandmother Dru’s heart. heaven gained an angel and that you were. Again we love you George as Austin would say :-), Dru, Alicia, Will, Tammy, Edwin, Darrel, Lisa, Misty, Joe, Cody, Toneya, Austin, lil Will, Colton, Brooklyn and Ryan
