Bobbie Welch Gaffigan, 88, of Mills River passed away Monday, March 27 at The Greens in Hendersonville.
She was a native of Iron Duff in Haywood County, NC. She moved to Mills River in 1952 and was a resident of Mills River for over 60 years. Bobbie was a daughter of the late William Creed Welch and Vena Howell Welch and was preceded in death by them, and by all of her siblings: Sara Gaffigan, Jule Welch, John Welch, and William Welch, Jr.
The love of her life was her husband of 61 years, Thomas Gaffigan, who greeted her in heaven upon her entrance.
Bobbie is survived by her sons, Michael Gaffigan and wife Cooley of Carrboro, NC, and Charles Gaffigan of Mills River. One of the great joys of her life were her four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews scattered from Michigan to Georgia.
Bobbie was an original member of Grace Mills River Church. She never met a stranger and always made anyone she met feel comfortable and safe because of her graciousness.
Above all, she loved the Lord and was a dedicated prayer warrior. A memorial service will be held in her honor on 11 AM, May 6th at Grace Mills River,495 Cardinal Rd, Mills River, NC, 28759.
To honor Bobbie, in lieu of flowers, please donate to TheLightFM.org in the name of Bobbie Gaffigan, to further their ministry.
Michael, your mom sounds like she was a woman of great gentleness and grace, which is not surprising given those same traits we see in you. May the Lord comfort you and your family here on earth until you are reunited in heaven.
Michael, so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. We will keep you and your family in our prayers.
My husband and I go to Grace Community Church. We were in a home prayer group 21 years ago with Bobbie and Tom. Through their example, they thought us how to pray — and how to praise the Lord out loud!!!.
Prayers of comfort my friend for you and the family. Her legacy lives on in the great family she created. God bless!
Prayers are with you and your family/ may God give you peace and comfort during this time as she will be greatly missed here but knowing she is celebrating in heaven !!
Prayers for the family.
My prayers with you all on the loss of your mom, especially Charles.
