Brenda Lee Massey, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2023, in Hendersonville, NC, at the age of 64.
Born on May 21, 1959, in Hendersonville, NC, Brenda was the daughter of William Fred Richards Sr. and Mary Edwards Richards. Brenda worked as a cook for local nursing homes, where she was known for her delicious meals and kind demeanor.
She was a member of Upward Christian Fellowship, where she found immense comfort and support. She was preceded in death by her father, William Fred Richards Sr.; Mother, Mary Edwards Richards; and husband of 27 years, David Massey.
Brenda leaves behind a large and loving family, including her daughters Priscella Massey, Toni Massey, Judy Massey, Christy Massey, Barbie Shipman, and her adopted daughter Farrah Gunter all of Hendersonville; sons Woodrow Massey, Robert Massey of Hendersonville, Donald Reece, Ronald Reece of Mooresville, NC.; grandchildren, Monica Massey, Selida Shipman, Rico Shipman, Whitney Massey, Edwin Olivas-Shipman, Fabiana Ortega-Massey, David Resendiz-Massey, Ruth Massey, Mary Martinez, Celia Martinez, Serenity Massey, Ishmael McMahan, and Kashe Alejandro; great-grandchildren, Theodore Boaz, Ameliana Massey, and Xavier Massey Coleman; sisters, Barbara Ann Edwards and her husband Molt Edwards, Marsha Saldana and her husband Ronnie Saldana, Martha Stanford; brothers, Billy Richards and his wife Janet Richards, and William Fred Richards Jr. and his wife Janet Bobbitt; aunt Mamie Blackwell and uncle Garland Richards, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held at one o’clock on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with a visitation being held one hour before the service. Brenda will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.
