Calvin Wellington Briggs, 86, of Hendersonville, died Monday, March 8, 2010, at the Laurels of Hendersonville.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, LA, but had resided in Hendersonville since Nov 2009. He was a son of the late Calvin and Goldie Webb Briggs, Sr.. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Calvin Louis and Stephen Dale Briggs, and two siblings, Billy Briggs and Marguerite Briggs. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII and a self-employed contractor. He was a member of St. George Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Baton Rouge.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Margie Allen Briggs; two daughters, Patricia Gordon and Brenda Briggs; three sons, James, Jeffrey and David Briggs; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 12, 2010 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Mortuary, 538 Tracy Grove Rd., Hendersonville, NC, with the Rev. Jimmy Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. No formal visitation is scheduled.

Just wanted to tell you how sorry we are for your loss.
We remember Mr. Briggs very well as do all the neighbors of our subdivision.
We’d like to know whether Mr. Briggs had a favorite charity so that we can send a contribution in his memory.
