Carl Pressley “Pep” Nelon, 77, of Hendersonville, passed away at home on July 4, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Buncombe County to the late Charlie Lee and Minnie Esmer Ownbey Nelon.
Pep is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ida Ruth Allison Nelon; his daughter Kim Nelon Conner (Richard); his sons: Charles Pressley Nelon (Vanessa), Jeremy Patrick Nelon (Christie), and Quenton Orr (Tara); his grandchildren: Heather Cox (Daniel), Clayton Nelon (Sam), Hannah Buchanan (Mark), Brianna Dotson (Austin), Jaycee Dowler, Christyn Levi, Ethan Odom, Carrie Wilkie, and Bella Orr; great-grandchildren: Bradley, Maggie Cox, Ivy Dotson, Levi Dotson, Brayden Buckner, Jake, Tennessee, Miranda, Jesse, Levi, Ariyah Ganza; his sisters Shirley Gentle (Ted) and Kathlene Yarbough; his brothers: Harvey Nelon (Myrna), Ray Nelon (Betty), and Lester Nelon (Evelyn); his sister-in-laws Betty Jo Darlington and Barbara Bodner; and his special niece, Debbie Simpkins.
Pep is predeceased by his siblings: Charlie David Nelon, Nannie Opal Brown, Virginia Juanita Dotson, Rachel Aliene Burgen, Franklin Eugene Nelon, Lawrence Columbus Nelon; and his granddaughter, Savannah Buckner.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 8th at 10:00am at Upward Bible Baptist Church at 1130 Upward Road in Flat Rock. The family will receive friends at the church the evening prior to the service, Thursday, July 7th from 6:00-8:00pm. A committal will follow the service on Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
