Carroll was my first cousin. His father was the youngest of 12 and he was my mother’s youngest brother, also tragically the first to pass on at the age 49 leaving a young family. I was only 16, a year older that Carroll, and I will never forget how lost he looked when we visited after his father’s sudden heart attach and passing. I was so sad to learn of his passing when I checked the Hendersonville obituaries this evening. He and his family were the best.
My belated condolences to Boyce, Donald and his children.

Carroll was a high school friend and fellow track team member at HHS. He was a superior athlete and held records in the 100,220,440 dashes & the mile relay that stood for years in NC, SC, VA & TN. His character was the best☝️
When my sisters moved down to oklawaha circle, first one then the other, he welcomed them and showed us such generosity of spirit, and humor. He and Reba always had a special place in our hearts. He delighted in our Italian Christmas cookies snuck on his porch. His was an understated quiet humor that covered such a good soul. He shined bright in our lives. We cherish our memories of him, and are grateful for his friendship.
We grew up in the same neighborhood and we both attended Hendersonville High. Schoo, where Carroll was a star on the track team. I am sorry to hear of his passing.
Carroll was a good and caring person that I was honored to know for many years at the Berkeley Mill.
Carroll and I played basketball together for the Elks Club basketball team in the late 1950s and early 1960s in Hendersonville. Carroll was a great competitor but always fair and handled everything with such class. Hilliard Blankenship was our coach. The Whitmire family did so much for our team. Some of our teammates were Tommy Blankenship, Clint Fletcher, Hall Waddell, Mike Blake, Waddy Stokes, Edgar Robinson, Kenny Shipman and David Starnes. We played quite a few games out of the area and this helped build character and how to handle adversity in cramped, unfamiliar locations. 60+ years later those memories are still vivid. Would not trade them for anything. I am very sorry to learn of Carroll’s passing. He was a true friend and a gentleman. To his family and many friends my deepest sympathy. Gerry Huntley. Carroll and Reba were neighbors for a long time, Carroll and his brothers owned the property behind our house so we’d see Carroll working around the field and such for many years til his health changed. I went to school with Reba at EHS and Donald Maxwell (Malinda/EHS) at HHS. Carroll and Reba had always been the kind of neighbor you love having. Praise the Lord he is now in heaven and seeing the Father and Jesus face to face as one of God’s children. Our family’s condolences for the loss of Carroll on earth.
