Cindy and family….i have just now found your dads’ passing. i remember him from valley hill up til now and he certainly was a great man. every time i had to head out to mills river i cut thru valley hill and always thought about your folks and how they were doing. he’s perfect now, isn’t he. i was always, even from childhood, impressed by your daddys “presence”, i think it was because daddy and all his brothers were tall, dark and handsome like Mr. Blackwell. i do regret that i wasn’t here to be able to attend his service but i am certain it was well done and comforting. love you all. I was privileged to serve as Mr. & Mrs. Blackwell’s mailman for 28 years. Most days I would stop by the Little Store on Willow and have a coke. I always learned something important and interesting from Mr. Blackwell every time we talked. Truly a great man. So sorry for your loss.

I met Mr. Boyce through my dad (Herman Cantrell) and he did our grading 30 years ago for our house. Everytime I look at this beautiful oak tree in our front yard I think of your dad. He took out two pines right beside this oak and the poor tree was one sided because of how the pines grew so close to it. I told him to go ahead and take the oak down too…it was ugly! He said with a smile, “No ma’am I ain’t!” You give that tree a chance and it will grow out and be fine. Of course he was right and it is the only “original tree” we have in our yard and standing tall still! Our thoughts and prayers to you all for the days ahead.

To the Blackwell Family, My heart goes out to you all . Your families are in my prayers. Words cannot describe the impact your dad had on our lives . He was a great man whom our family loved a lot . Just know that he is with your mom now and his life is now complete. Our families have grown up together and we have been so blessed to watch our parents friendship last to the very end. May we all continue our friendship and legacy our parents have left behind. Much love Kim Hensley Lanning or as your dad called me Kimbo.
