Charles E. Moore, 89, of Brevard, formerly of Flat Rock, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Toreís Home following a period of declining health. A native of Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Henderson County since 1999. He was the son of the late James and Helen Wiegand Moore, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Kelley and brother-in-law, Walter Kelley. He worked as a financial analyst with Coats North America for thirty years. After retirement he moved to North Carolina. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. An Army veteran of WWII, he served in the European Theatre, and was a member of Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post #77.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Elizabeth Moore of Brevard; a daughter, Nancy Facey and her husband Wade of Hendersonville; a son, Brian Moore and his wife Rosemary of Smithtown, NY; three granddaughters, Sarah, Mary, Rose; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Monday in the Our Lady of the Angels Chapel of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Father John Salvas will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post # 77, Hedrick-Rhodes VFW Post # 5206, and DAV Chapter 14.
