Charles H. Quinzel, affectionately known as Charlie, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023, at the age of 84. Born on February 15, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey, he was a beloved husband, caring father, and proud grandfather.

Charlie led a fulfilling life, marked by his dedication to his family and his work. After serving in the US Navy, he pursued a career as an auto mechanic, showcasing his mechanical prowess and attention to detail. Later, he worked as an analyst for the US Post Office, bringing his analytical skills to provide valuable insights.

Outside of his professional life, Charlie had a variety of interests that brought him joy. He found solace in woodworking, creating beautiful pieces with his skilled hands. Gardening allowed him to connect with nature, and he took great pleasure in nurturing his plants and watching them flourish. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hiking and communing with nature’s beauty. Charlie’s commitment to environmentalism extended to planting trees, leaving a lasting impact on the world around him.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of nearly sixty years, Florence Quinzel, who stood by his side through thick and thin. His memory will forever be cherished by his daughters, Susan Fink (Dale) of Glen Rock, NJ, and Joyce Quinzel (Jason) of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a proud grandfather to his grandson, Liam.

Family and friends are invited to honor Charlie’s life during a Memorial Service held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation period starting one hour earlier.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on September 6, 2023, at the Fairview Cemetery & Arboretum, 1100 E Broad St, Westfield, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations may be made in Charlie’s memory at Four Seasons Hospice, or Memory Care.

In this time of sorrow, we remember Charlie for his unwavering love and kindness. His legacy lives on through the memories he leaves behind with his loved ones. May he rest in eternal peace.
