Charles Lopes Pinheiro, 86, of Hendersonville, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the Elizabeth House.
Born in Carminita, CA, he was a son of the late Antonio and Ana Lopez Pinheiro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Dorothy Pinheiro.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korean War. He was Chapter Commander for DAV in NY. He had been a resident of Henderson County for thirty years.
Surviving him are his two sons, Louis Pinheiro of Hendersonville and Gary Pinheiro and his wife Joanne of NJ; three grandchildren, Brian, Jessica and Margarite; five siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday in the chapel at Forest Lawn Mortuary. Burial will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post 77, Hedrick-Rhodes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5206 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14.
