CHARLES THOMAS CANUP, 79, of Flat Rock, died Friday, May 28, 2010, at the Elizabeth House.
He was a native of Greenville, SC, but had lived in Henderson County for the last 15 years. He was a son of the late Arthur and Belle Brooks Canup. He retired from the commercial construction business, but worked part time at Winn-Dixie, Ingles, and Bi-Lo. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1951-1959.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Melton Canup; three sons, Tommy Canup and his wife Melissa, Ricky Canup his wife Stacy, both of Greenville, SC, and Mike Bradley and his wife Lori of East Flat Rock; one daughter, Debbie Williams and her husband Frank of Flat Rock; ten grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, in the chapel of Forest Lawn Mortuary with the Revs. Lawrence Russell and Corey Honeycutt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the chapel.At other times, the family will be at the home of the daughter at 1968 Orchard Rd, Flat Rock. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with military graveside rites provided by the Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post 77, Hedrick- Rhodes VFW Post 5206 and the DAV Chapter 14.
Charles will be greatly missed. We dearly loved him, he was an awesome guy. May God give you peace during this time!
