Christopher Ray Lyda, age 54, of the Edneyville, North Carolina community, passed away on Thursday, April 6th, 2023 from a massive stroke.
Chris is survived by his loving parents, Sylvia Taylor Holcombe and M. Ray Lyda; his devoted stepparents Robert “Ed” Holcombe and Victoria Bidez Lyda; his wife, Jennifer; his beloved children, Mitchell and Gracie, and Ryan Holland; his only sister, Donna Lyda-Jenks; and nephews, Donovan and Solomon Jenks. Chris was also the proud grandpa to four grandchildren.
Chris was raised in St. Paul Episcopal Church. He was a member of the graduating class of 1986 from Edneyville High School. Chris served his country as an Airborne Ranger in the 101 Division of the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea and stood guard on the DMZ.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Hendersonville with Pastor Chris Pace officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army.

Chris was one grade ahead of me in high school. The years of Edneyville High School was a special time and place. Chris was always very happy and fun to be around. Prayers to the Lyda Family.

Our class was small so everyone was like family. Almost all of us go back to our childhood years. Chris , I will miss ya brother.
