Clay Allen Wines, 80, of Arden, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at his home. A native of Newport, TN, he lived in Henderson and Buncombe Counties most of his life. He was the son of the late Bowden and Cloa Wines, and was also preceded in death by two brothers, J.C. Wines, William ìBillî Wines; and two sisters, Mary Wines and Betty Jo Strickland.
Survivors include two brothers, Walter Wines and his wife Ruby of Rogersville, TN, Charles Wines and his wife Debbie of Corrington, TN; two sisters, Dorothy McMinn and her husband Donald, Rebecca Shropshire and her husband David, all of Mills River; his caregiver and good friend, Naomi Conner of Arden; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Mortuary. Rev. Tom Ellis will officiate. Burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park will be private. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in remembrance of Clay to Boylston Baptist Church Building Fund, 9949 Boylston Hwy., Mills River, NC 28759.
