Clyde Robert Grashel, 85, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Elizabeth House. A native of Columbus, OH, he was the son of the late William and Anna Thacker Grashel, and the husband of the late Norma Mae Grashel who died in 1994. He lived in Henderson County since 2004. He was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII, serving from 1942 through 1946. He worked thirty years with the Columbus Fire Department, retiring with the rank of Fire Captain.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Lee Grashel of Ft. Myers, FL; two daughters, Denise Lou Wallace of Dana, NC, Tina Jo Larouche of Hendersonville, NC; two granddaughters, Madelyn Rennee and Kelly Denise Larouche, both of Hendersonville, NC.
At his request, inurnment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery.
I will always remember Bob as a good friend and mentor when we worked together at Jerry Spears in Columbus, Ohio. Patty and I last visited with Bob in Naples, Florida a few years ago and had a great time reminising about our days together. Our sympathy to all of his family.
