Daphne McCarthy, 84, of Hendersonville passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Pardee Memorial Hospital. A native of Birmingham, AL, she lived in Henderson County many years. She was a daughter of the late Porter T. and Elota Scott McAllister, and was also preceded in death by her brother, Porter ìMacî McAllister. She graduated from Edison High School in Miami, FL, and was the owner and operator of several assisted living facilities. She was a member of Unity Center of Christianity. Her community memberships include the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, American Legion, and the Quota Club.
Survivors include her loving husband of fourteen years, Francis McCarthy; two daughters, Carole Woody of Hendersonville, Kathy Dardis of Lady Lake, FL, a sister, Bettie Walborn of Tucson, AZ; nine grandchildren, Patrick Woody, Jennifer Myers, Denis Smith, Robert and Deborah Dardis, Michael, Kevin, Brendan and Sean McCarthy; six great grandchildren, Finn Woody, Aeris Smith, Michael, Mathew, and Morgan Dardis, and Tyler McCarthy.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 21, 2009 in the Mausoleum Chapel of Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Chad OíShea will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Unity Center of Christianity, 2041 Old Fanning Bridge Road, Mills River, NC 28759. Guests may sign a register book at www.forestlawnhendersonville.com.

Sorry to hear of Daphne’s transition. She is a great lady. We just moved back from Mexico and just found out. Our prayers and best wishes are with you.

We are so very sorry to hear of Daphne’s passing… Chuck is very upset as he enjoyed speaking with you both when he worked on your property to keep it nice. She is a beautiful soul and lovely lady. I am also a Unity member and wish i had known Daphne was… blessing and love to all of the children and her wonderful husband, who we also enjoyed!!! Love and peace to you all!
