David Lee Jenkins, Sr., of Hendersonville, passed away Friday, October 30, 2009 at Elizabeth House, following a short illness. A native of Richmond, MI, he lived in Henderson County since 2001. He was a son of the late Herschell and Margaret Wilbur Jenkins. He was an Army veteran, and a member of Dana Baptist Church. He was a member of the Henderson County Sheriffís VIP staff serving at the Henderson County courthouse, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Kerrville, TX.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty years, Joyce Hebb Jenkins; a son, David Lee Jenkins, Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Buda, TX; a daughter, Laura Baker and her husband Scott of Hampton, VA; two brothers, Alan Jenkins and his wife Sharon of Richmond, MI, John Jenkins and his wife Christine of Boston, MA; a sister, Julia Morton and her husband Stan of Nantucket, MA; two grandchildren, Joshua David Roy Jenkins of Sterling Heights, MI, Caitlin Love of Hampton, VA; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Adreonna Roy of Sterling Heights, MI; and a number of loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2:00 pm Monday at Dana Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Blackwell officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Military honors will be conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post #77, Hedrick-Rhodes VFW Post # 5206, and DAV Chapter 14. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm prior to the service at the church.
