Donald Lee Holbert, a beloved member of his community, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at the age of 85. Donald was born on June 12, 1938, in Henderson County, North Carolina. He peacefully departed this world at Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Following high school, Don began his career working for his father as a brick mason. Later, he dedicated over 40 years to ECUSTA/P.H. Glatfelter before retiring. Don’s hard work and dedication were evident throughout his professional journey.
Don was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, where he found great joy in serving others. As a deacon, greeter, and usher, he touched the lives of many within his church family. His commitment to his faith was unwavering, and he cherished the opportunity to contribute to his community through his church.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Viola Holbert; and his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy Carol Lemmons Holbert, who passed away on September 6, 2016. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Don is survived by his two children, Rickman Lee Holbert and wife, Sherri, and Tamela Annette Geouge and husband, Mark. He is also survived by his brother, Curt Holbert; grandson, Chad Holbert; and great-grandson, Ty Holbert. Their lives were profoundly enriched by Don’s presence and love.
A celebration of Don’s beautiful life will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, with Pastor Steve Scoggins officiating. Following the service, interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., thirty minutes prior to the service, at the church.

Donald Lee Holbert will be remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated servant of his church, and a hardworking individual who made a positive impact on those around him. His spirit will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
