Donnie Marie Lanning, 83, of Hendersonville, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010, at Mountain Home Health & Rehabilitation. A native of Goldsboro, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie Howard and Sallie Barwick Tripp, and the wife of the late Ernest ìJimî Lanning who died in 1989. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Pellieter. She lived in Henderson County since 1967, and retired from Taylor Instruments 1986. She was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Lanning of Hendersonville; a step daughter, Etta Daniels of Chapel Hill; two brothers, George Tripp of Dunn, Franklin Tripp of La Grange; two sisters, Vera Howard of Longmeadow, MA, Christine Herring of Norfolk, VA; two grandsons, Brian and Tim Plemmons, both of Hendersonville; three step grandchildren; two great granddaughters, Sadi and Lilli; a great grandson, Noah; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 9, 2010, in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Cory Honeycutt will officiate. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14, P.O. Box 2425, Hendersonville, NC 28793, or VFW Post # 5206, 900 N. Main Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
