Dorothy Ann Brown, 80, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.

Mrs. Brown was born in Madison County to the late Walter M. & Dovenia Shelton. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Michael Shelton. She was a graduate of Mars Hill School.

Mrs. Brown has lived in Henderson County for the most of 48 years; although she, her husband, and daughter lived in Alaska for several years, but loved Hendersonville so much they returned. Through the years her and her family enjoyed traveling around the country in their camper. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC.

Surviving is her husband of 57 years, Irland V. Brown of Hendersonville; a daughter, Shelia Pletcher and her husband Mark of Hendersonville; a grandson, Kenneth ìKennyî Pletcher; and Evelyn Hare of Asheville.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Holbert and Rev. Danny Pridmore will officiate. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the funeral home; and at other times they will be at the residence of her daughter, Sheila Pletcher, 110 Shelly Drive, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
