Dr. David Virgil Dungan Jr. (David Dungan) left his earthly shell on Saturday, July 01, 2023. He was 80 years old. He was the oldest son of David and Daisy Dungan, and brother of Michael Joseph Dungan.
He moved to the Hendersonville area in his early life as a result of his father’s retirement from the United States Army. David was a graduate of East Henderson High School and later UNC in 1969. He graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in Missouri in 1979 and was a chiropractor for many years in Brevard- often coming in on his day off or staying late to help his patients. He loved animals, carpentry, and a good cappuccino. David enjoyed reading about history and loved to share his knowledge. In his later years- he started attending classes on Buddhism and found peace through the teachings and community at Heartwood Refuge. He was kind and compassionate. David will be greatly missed.
He is survived by one daughter, Spring Hope Dungan and her husband, Terry Tobin of Hendersonville; brother, Michael Joseph Dungan and his wife, Rebecca Patton- Dungan, also of Hendersonville; one grandson, Luke Tobin; a niece and nephew; cousins; and many wonderful friends.
