Dr. Robert L. “Bobby” Taylor, age 77, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. He was born on February 15, 1946, in Henderson County, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Walter Honess Taylor (12/11/2003) and the late Essie Pruitt Taylor (04/12/1989).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dixie Blanton Costner (04/12/1989); one brother, James Carroll Taylor (08/21/1993); and one nephew, Freddie Taylor (06/05/1972).
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Bobby’s professional life was dedicated to helping people. He worked for Apple Country Transit for nearly eight years before finding his true passion at The Trolley Company, where he loved his job until his last moments. But Bobby’s impact went beyond his career.
In his free time, Bobby worked tirelessly in “his” yard, creating a beautiful oasis that his neighbors envied. He also took pride in starting and teaching a Sunday School class for “Older” adults at Shaws Creek Baptist Church and later at West Hendersonville Baptist Church. His dedication to sharing his faith with others was a testament to his kind and compassionate nature.
Bobby got to move back “HOME” on June 24, 2012, when he married Dianne Hill, whom he was close to celebrating their 11th year anniversary with.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Hill Taylor; one daughter, Krystal Taylor Moore of Rock Hill, South Carolina; one son, Robert Jeffrey Taylor and his wife, Audrey; ten grandchildren, Trevor Taylor, Kadrian Taylor, Tyler Moore, Megan Doolittle, Logan Taylor, Haley Moore, Kierstyn Moore, Dayson “Dada” Caines, Jaxon Taylor, and Dakota Taylor; and one great-grandson, Silas Caines. Bobby is also survived by one brother, Gary Uyless Taylor of Chuckey, Tennessee; nieces, Robin Waldbart, Lisa Summey, Sheila Sexton, Debbie Rickman, Darlene Ayers, Wanda Graham, and Pam Williams; and one nephew, Jimmy Taylor.
Funeral services for Bobby will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at West Hendersonville Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Mullinax and Rev. Barry Pruitt officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church. The interment will be held at Shepherd Memorial Park.
Bobby’s life was one of kindness, dedication, and love. Those who knew him will remember his selflessness, his generous heart, and his unwavering faith. He will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
My deepest condolences to you, Dianne! Bobby was indeed, a blessing to so many. Glad that you and he, although not nearly long enough, had a few happy years together. Keep remembering the good times shared; may they bring you comfort and peace!
Condolences to Preacher Taylor and his family. He preached at both of my parents funerals. We loved hearing his family singing n playing their instruments at Liberty Baptist. He’s truly gonna be missed.
I joined Lakeview Baptist church in Springfield Mo when they were without a pastor. The Taylor’s came shortly after. What a blessing they were. Prayers for the family.
I’m too sad to write anything but I can’t not share what Bobby meant to all of us at The Trolley Company. For over eight years, he was the dependable, caring, first to volunteer that we counted on. As someone else said, “He was always there when you needed him.” When he drove for Apple Country Transportation he was always helping those in need whether with money (Don’t tell Dianne) or food or a place to stay or prayers. He lived what he believed. At heart, Bobby was a pastor and I can’t imagine that he didn’t hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Mr. Taylor you will be truly missed. Jeff and I kept you on your toes growing up with all the problems we caused you and Mrs T. Thanks for some of the lifelong lessons you taught us and I will see you on the other side. SF
My dear Dianne and family. May the great loving arms of God our Father hold all of you close as you honor your life spent with Bobby, knowing that this is not goodbye but rather we will see him again soon. Lean on the Lord and let His comfort fill your hearts. Love you dear friend and sister in Christ
I have known Bobby since since childhood. We grew up together in Balfour. I remember Bobby as a person who always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart.
He never met a stranger and was always looking to help those in need. I pray that God be with all his family during this time of sorrow.
I’m still very much in shock to hear of the passing of pastor Robert Taylor! He was definitely a man of God. He was our pastor at Liberty Baptist Church in Rock Hill South Carolina on White Street. We had the most awesome church family with many fun Christian things we really serve the Lord in a mighty way. He and his family could really really sing! I was blessed every time I heard the Taylor family sing and Bobby preach the Lord’s word. We were blessed to have him in our lives. He taught me so much. I’m truly going to miss him. RIP.BOBBY TAYLOR
To all the family I am so sorry to hear about Bobby. I enjoyed working with him at Forest Lawn. May God bless all of you at this time
Dr. Taylor and I were classmates in Bible College and Sang together in a church group. We spent every Thanksgiving together while in college and developed a great friendship. That friendship has continued over 50 years. I am thankful for heaven and the hope of a grand reunion some day. “Bobby” will be missed.
