I am sharing this for my mother Betty Hardin Gibbs in Flat Rock NC.
Mom says I lost a dear friend. We live next door to the church and my mother was a member there for many years. I just now realized Edra had passed away. I will miss her friendship and talking to her. Love Betty and Todd

It was an honor and a privilege to have been Miss Edra’s pastor for so many years. Truly, she is “worth far above rubies” (Prov. 31:10). Pat and I will miss her irrepressible smile and beautiful demeanor which could not be diminished even by illness. We will greatly miss her until the time when we will all be gathered beyond the river. Her greatest legacy that she leaves behind is her family. She dearly loved her family and they loved her. She never missed an opportunity to tell of their accomplishments. What we are all challenged to do is to fully (and literally) embrace the God of her fathers.

The memory of the just is blessed (Prov. 10:7)

Edra and I were poll workers at every election at the Armory precinct for many, many years. She was always so cordial and helpful to everyone. I loved seeing her at each election, always so well dressed with all matching accessories. I was always proud to know and work with her.

I have so many joyful memories of lunches, cookouts, and barbecues on my auntie Deborah’s wonderful porch. Edra always had a sweet smile, hug, and “how you doing hun?” And she always wanted to really know how we were doing and what we’d be up to—every member of our big blended southern clan of Baynes, Thompsons, Kings, Mills, Sykes, Youngs, Pfotzers and on. I am so grateful for all those afternoons (especially the ones down by the river) and our wonderful clan, from which Edra will be eternally missed.
Teresa and auntie Deborah, you are in my thoughts & prayers.
With love & condolences,
Ally

Cherish all the good memories you shared together. We had good times growing up.
We love you both, and your family.

I have so many memories of your mom (and dad) growing up and spending some time in Hendersonville during the summers! I’m so glad I was able to visit with her a few years ago! Praying for you as you walk this road. Love you!
