Evelyn L. Wilson, 78, of Hendersonville passed away Monday, April 18, 2011 at Life Care Center of Hendersonville following a period of declining health. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late Durham Lanning and Mae King, and the wife of the late Walter H.A. Wilson who died in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John D. Lanning and a sister, Lonnita King Engle.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A member of Mud Creek Baptist Church, she was a member of the New Life Sunday School Class, and a faithful member of Bruce McIntyreís Bible study group. Her personal ministry included preparing meals for members of the church, and serving as a greeter at the church for ten years.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlene Harris and her husband Doran, Vickie Kirchner and her husband Keith; two granddaughters, Angela Ownbey and her husband Tom, and Karen Harris; a grandson, Kyle Kirchner; two great granddaughters, Morgan and Erin Broome, all of Hendersonville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be at 3:00 pm Thursday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Mr. Bruce McIntyre officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm prior to the service in the chapel.
