Everette Osborne Skidds, 93, died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Mission Hospital.
He was a native of Maine, but lived most of his life in Henderson County. Everette is preceded in death by his parents and thirteen brothers and sisters.
He served in the US Coast Guard during WWII; and retired from the US Postal Service as a mail carrier. Everette was a member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. He enjoyed his family and tending to his property and animals.
Everette is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mildred L. Skidds; five children, Linda Steed of Asheville, Ronald Osborne Skidds and his wife Patricia, Nancy Skidds Penn and her husband William, Myra Skidds all of Georgia, and Natasha Skidds of Hendersonville; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Rev. Wally Shamburger will officiate. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
We are so sorry to learn of Mr. Skidds passing. Meeting him and Mildred were a highlight for us. Such good people who felt like family. We will miss Mr. Skidds and Mildred will be in our thoughts and prayers. Much love to the family from the Thompsons
Everette was our mailman back in the 50and 60’s.
