Frank S. Townsend, Jr., a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 08, 2023, at the age of 76. Born on April 26, 1947, in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Frank lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep passion for serving others.  He was the son of the late Frank and Betty Ella Townsend.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David L. Townsend, and Larry R. Townsend.

 

Frank’s dedication to his work was evident throughout his 15-year tenure as a delivery driver for Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. He approached his responsibilities with unwavering commitment and a friendly smile that brightened the day of everyone he encountered. Frank’s genuine kindness and caring nature made him an invaluable member of the hospital community.

 

Beyond his professional endeavors, Frank had a zest for life and a remarkable ability to find joy in everyday moments. He had a passion for bowling and billiards, activities that allowed him to share laughter and create lasting memories with those he loved. Whether it was competing against friends or spending quality time with his family, Frank’s infectious spirit illuminated any room he entered.

 

Frank’s journey through life was marked by unwavering love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judy McJunkin Townsend, who was his rock and constant source of support. Their bond was unbreakable, a testament to the power of true love and commitment. Frank was also a proud father to his son, Joe Townsend, and daughter-in-law, Angela, of Edneyville, North Carolina. Together, they formed a close-knit family that shared countless treasured moments.

 

Frank’s legacy carries on through his beloved granddaughter, Grace Marie Townsend. He cherished her dearly and took great joy in watching her grow into a remarkable young woman. He is also survived by one sister, Tammy L. Campbell; and one brother, Jerry W. Townsend.

 

Services honoring Frank’s life will include a private inurnment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hendersonville. In this final resting place, Frank’s memory will be forever etched, and his spirit will continue to shine brightly.

I met Frank at PACE. I was a worker there and my heart enjoyed spending time with him. He was pleasant and loved to talk when you could sit with him long enough. My deepest sympathies to you all.
