Fred Osborne Lyons, 88, of Hendersonville passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Elizabeth House on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. He was born in Lambsburg, Virginia on November 3, 1934 to the late Charles and Julia Jarrell Lyons.
Fred was a graduate of Edyville High School. After graduating he enlisted in the military and proudly served in the US Army. After his tour in Germany he returned home to work at General Electric where he retired after 36 years of service. He is a dedicated member of Upward Worship Center. Fred enjoyed playing the guitar and other string instruments. When he wasn’t making music he enjoyed gardening. He was also a regular mall walker as he always went shopping with Betty. Fred loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Arwood, Elmo, Dewey, Reavis, Clancy and G.C. Lyons; sisters, Lois Lyons and Aretta Norman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Case Lyons; sons, Tommy(Teresa) Lyons and Richard Lyons; daughter, Lynda Lyons; grandchildren, Nicole, Shane, Nicholas, Jacob, Jolena, Lee, and Nykeem; great-grandchildren, Anna, Reese, Novian and Nevaeh along with his sisters, Margaret (Lowell) Layman of Mount Airy and Mary Lyons Parsons of Mount Airy.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor James Norman and Reverend Trent Lyons officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will immediately follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
