George Franklin ìFrankî Hensley, 64 of Zirconia, died Monday, July 1, 2013 after a sudden illness. He was a native of Dana and a lifelong resident of Henderson Co., a son of the late William and Gladys Spears Hensley.
He was also preceded in death by brothers Joe, Paul, Ricky, Roy, Kenneth, and Bill Hensley; a sister Lena Sentell; and a son-in-law Lance Bishop.
He was a member of the East Henderson High School class of 1968 and was employed by City Tire Service for over 35 years, and M&M Freezer Locker. A US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of the VFW, 40&8, Woodmen of the World, and was a trustee for Lodge 1391. He loved estate and yard sales. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving is his wife of 44 years Sherry Nix Hensley; two daughters Melody Bishop Edwards and husband Stacey and Nicole Galladay and husband Steve all of Hendersonville; three grandchildren Michaela Bishop, Blake Bishop and Waylon Lively; sisters Georgia Gilbert and husband Grady of Edneyville, Polly Hudgins and husband Junior of Dana and Christine Orr and husband Carl of Dana; brother James Hensley and wife Carol of Florida; sister-in-law Theresa Leonhardt of Black Mountain; several nieces and nephews; and mother and father-in-law John and Grace Nix of East Flat Rock.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday at Mud Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Jared Mathis will officiate with music by his niece Angela McGraw. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors rendered by the Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post 77, Hedrick-Rhodes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5206, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7pm on Friday at Mud Creek Baptist Church and at other times will be at the home.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrenís Research Hospital, 501 St,Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
