George Michael ìMikeî Mayo, 70, of Hendersonville, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 30, 2011.
He was a son of the late George and Margaret Mayo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Mayo.
He retired as Lieutenant of the NC State Highway Patrol after thirty years of service. He attended Tracy Grove Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty five years, Katherine Collins Mayo; four children, G.W. Mayo and his wife Miranda, Jessica Lively and her husband John, Leslie Wooten, and Scott Mayo; three grandchildren, George Wooten, Whitley Wooten and Jonathan Pitt; a sister, Deborah Taylor and her husband Joe; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be a 3:00 p.m. Monday at Tracy Grove Baptist Church. Reverend James Maybin and Reverend Harold Connor will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. Monday at the church and at other times at the home of the family.
