J.C. Allison, 86, of East Flat Rock, left Hendersonville for his heavenly home Wednesday, January 12, 2011. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was a son of the late Clarence and Becky Jones Allison, and the husband of the late Edna Pruitt Allison who died in 1988. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Jean Allison Hoots and Patricia Bingham. He was the owner and operator of Oak Lane Nursery and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed coon hunting, horse trading, and working oxen.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Lee Allison of Hendersonville, Jay Carroll ìJay Birdî Allison and his wife Janet of Flat Rock; three daughters, Brenda Blackwell of Hendersonville, Edith Bayne and her husband Doug of Zirconia, Debra Seymour of Mt. Olive; a brother, Willie Allison of Hendersonville; a sister, Ruby Gillum of Hendersonville; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Revs. Norman Bayne and James Maybin will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm prior to the service in the church.
