James (Jim) Andrew Underwood Jr., 75, of Flat Rock, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, May 1, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Birmingham, AL., to the late James Andrew Underwood Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Cowart. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 13 years, Belinda C. Ramey Underwood, who died in 1998; two sisters, Sharon Evelyn Underwood Philbrook and Shirley Ann Underwood Bailey.
After living in Birmingham, AL., Jim resided in Henderson County for 64 years. He graduated from Fletcher Academy in 1967 and worked at Kimberly Clark Corporation as a maintenance technician. Jim was a loving husband and father with many friends in the community. He was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church, and his favorite hobby was riding his motorcycle and cars, especially Fords and Harleys. His family was associated with the Mountain San. & Hospital for many years.
His family owes him a deep debt of gratitude for all his love and support during times of difficult life events. He will be greatly missed, until we meet again in Heaven, to ride the streets of gold together.
Jim is survived by his two sons, Brandon L. Underwood and his wife Courtney, and TJ Underwood; two grandchildren, Levi Underwood and Noah Underwood; mother-in-law, Armay Ramey; two brothers-in-law, Roger C. Philbrook and Bobby Joe Ramey Jr.; sister-in-law, Wendy Hill Ramey; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins from North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama.
A funeral service will be held at three o’clock on Saturday, May 13, 2023, in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with graveside services following at Shepherd Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. before the service.
Just now seeing this. I worked with him for 17 years . I enjoyed it and he taught me alot of things in tabbi. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

Jim certainly was a good person and coworker. He always had his special greeting I remember well: big smile, hand shake and HELLO BUDDY. RIP..

Matt and I loved Jim dearly. Every time he would see us we would talk what seemed like for hours on end. I never met a more genuine, sweet, loving man. We are so sorry for his loss. We love you Brandon and Courtney! Sending many prayers and love!
