James Loughran Stepp, 82, of Dana, passed away September 29, 2011, following a long illness. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Lola and Lillian Hoots Stepp. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Stepp McGaha, who died in 1984.
He retired from Cranston Print Works after 43 years. He was a member and active deacon of Zion Hill Baptist Church for more than 45 years. He trusted Jesus as his Savior in 1954. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, the moment he placed his trust in Christ, he was sealed until the day of redemption. We will be reunited with him in Heaven.
He is survived by his wife, Cassie Williams Stepp; one daughter, Leshea Stepp Ward and her husband Edgar Ward; two grandchildren, Jason Kyle Ward, and Andrea Lauren Ward, all of Dana.
A funeral to celebrate his life will be at 12:00 pm Saturday, October 1, in the chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with Rev. Phillip Capell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Four Seasons Hospice for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or Zion Hill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 16, Zirconia, NC 28790.
