Jamie G. Austin, 55, of Flat Rock, went to be with the Lord Friday, November 2, 2012 at Elizabeth House, after a graceful two-year battle with cancer. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was the son of the late George E. and Barbara S. Austin. He was a respected team leader with General Electric, retiring in 2012 following thirty-five years of service. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of thirteen years, Angela B. Austin; his son, Mitchell B. Austin and his wife Kim of Mills River; two sisters, Joni A. Ward and her husband Gerald of Zirconia, Gina A. Wheeler and her husband Michael of Barnardsville; his mother-in-law, Joan McGraw of Zirconia; his sister-in-law, Karen B. Watkins and her husband William of McKinney, TX; many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and his loving four legged sidekick, Prissy.
A funeral will be at 11:00 am Tuesday in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Blair Stewart will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8:30 pm Monday in the Forest Lawn Chapel.

I was so sorry to read of Jamie’s death this evening. It was an honor and pleasure to meet him through my volunteer work at Park Ridge Oncology last year. My prayers are with you, Angela, and the rest of the family as you go through this time.
