Janie Lou Patterson, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, January 07, 2024, at Four Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care Elizabeth House in Flat Rock at the age of 92. Her loving family was by her side. She was born on Monday, January 04, 1932, in Edneyville, North Carolina to the late Jacob L. Hill and Maude Maxwell.

Janie will always be remembered for her remarkable strength and unwavering faith. Throughout her life, she approached every challenge with a positive attitude and a determination to overcome. Her infectious spirit touched the lives of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Following many years of service, Janie retired from Kimberly-Clark and dedicated her time to her family and her faith. She was a devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Hendersonville and cherished the fellowship of her church community. Graduating from Edneyville High School, Janie valued education and lifelong learning.

Janie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Edward “Ed” Patterson, who passed away on April 7, 2011.

She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her children, Donna Stover (Philip), Kerry Patterson (Candis), Pat Patterson (Helen), Alan Patterson, and Mike Patterson (Mary Ann). Her memory will also be cherished by her thirteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Ruby Heatherly.

Services honoring Janie’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church, with Pastor Danny Pridmore officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.

A private graveside service will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville, where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Ed.

In lieu of flowers, Janie’s family kindly asks that memorial donations be made to Four Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care. Contributions can be made by visiting www.fourseasonscare.org or by calling (828) 513-2440.

Very sorry to hear of Aunt Janie’s passing. I will always remember the kindness she showed me. When I stayed overnight, we always had to get our clothes ready for church and our shoes polished. She was a great lady.

With my heartfelt thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy to Janie’s family during this time following her promotion to Heaven. She was a precious lady. The loss of your Mother is one of the most difficult losses you will ever endure, but God’s grace and peace will get you thru this.
