Jean Ward (Moody) Nathan passed peacefully from this earth on March 27, 2015. Jean was born August 19, 2017 in Utica, N.Y., the daughter of Jane L. and Clarence W. Moody. She spent her childhood in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Following graduation from school, Jean moved to New York City where she lived and worked for many years. She and her husband Miles eventually retired to Hendersonville where they spent many happy years.

Jean enjoyed life to the fullest and loved nothing better than a celebration with friends and family. She cherished each new day as an opportunity to explore new experiences and adventures. She and Miles and later she alone traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and beyond. For many years, Jean was a member of the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, N.Y. and won numerous singles and doubles trophies. In Hendersonville, she belonged to the Hendersonville Racquet Club and played into her 80ís. She was also a Life Master at bridge and winner of numerous tournaments and an accomplished needlepoint artist particularly in crewel and crochet. Jean loved animals, particularly her cats and all the wild things she encountered on her daily walks.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Miles and her sister Anne. She is survived by a niece Janice McMillen and her husband Claus Metzner of Connecticut and by her nephew David McMillen of New Mexico.

In recent years, Jean was very fortunate to have the assistance of many caring individuals who helped her greatly with lifeís daily tasks. Many thanks to the staff at the Laurels who took such wonderful care of her and showed such compassion and concern, to Ryan Harmon, to Andrea Corn and the accountants at Premier/Myrlayne Enterprises, and especially to her good friend Marge Noble who together with her husband Bob saw to many of Jeanís needs.

Jean will be laid to rest in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. at the convenience of the family. There will be no local services.
