Jerry Norwood Patterson, 89, of Hendersonville, NC, went home to be with his Lord on January 30, 2022, after a courageous three-week battle with Covid-19.

A lifelong resident of Henderson County, Jerry was born June 16, 1932, to the late Gurley R. Patterson and Alma Drake Patterson. In 1950, Jerry enlisted into the US Navy and he was honored to defend our grateful country.  Jerry worked for a number of years as a Boiler Operator at Cranston Print Works. He was a member at Crab Creek Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Left to cherish Jerry’s memory are his loving wife of sixty-nine years and seven months, Maebelle Capps Patterson; daughters Linda Pressley and husband Steve, Susan Thompson; son Norman Patterson and wife Rhonda, all of Hendersonville; and 3 grandchildren Laura Pressley, Sara Beth Hensley and Nathan Patterson; and seven beloved great-grandchildren. Jerry also leaves behind a sister Ora Mae Snoddy of Etowah and a brother Paul Patterson and wife China.

Jerry will be dearly missed by all.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, February 4, 2022, in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home; a visitation will be one hour prior. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park to immediately follow.

Paul, China and family. i am truly saddened to learn of Pauls’ brothers passing. i thought i recognized the name, so i read his obituary. it’s always difficult to lose a close family member, but it does sound as if your brother knew God and knew where he was going to be when he re-awoke in Heaven with his Maker. much love to you all.

Jerry is remembered as a precious brother in the Lord, who shared his faith with many. He brought joy, and at times laughter, as he shared his life experiences. He was faithful in praying for others,
and showed genuine concern for everyone. We have been blessed by knowing this kind and gentle man.
Our love and prayers for all the family,
Glenn and Susie
