Joe Abrell, 77, of Hendersonville passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Elizabeth House. The memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11am prior to the service in the chapel.
I knew you only briefly, Joe, as a fellow UM law alumus and single-malt scotch drinker. It’s been a long time, but I still remember you with great fondness and infinite respect. The world forever lost a bit of wisdom, humor and light on August 9th. If ever I see you again, wherever, I will buy you a Scotch. God bless you, and may He be with your family and loved ones, and all of us who were graced with your presence, albeit too damned briefly. You were one of the good ones, Joe, and your spirit will live on forever. Rest in peace.
I have a great memories of Joe and Alan Fish playing in
my back yard with some
old toy cars of mine that
my mother threw away. Joe is
ten years my senior. The
Carl Abrell house was two doors south on of ours on
Washington Street, Spencer, IN
I have such fond memories of Joe. He was always teaching and guiding. I still remember having my first black-eyed peas at his home on New Year’s Day with his beautiful wife Judy and his daughter Lisa. He will always be in my prayers.
A gifted, personable, and wise leader who will be sorely missed.
