Johnny Darrell Collins, 41, of Hendersonville, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Pardee Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Hendersonville. He was the son of the late Jimmie F. Collins, and Annie L. Moore of Horse Shoe.
He was employed by Selee Corporation as a team leader for eight years. He was of the Baptist faith. He coached Little League Baseball and Henderson County Softball.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of six years, Aliva Collins; two daughters, Ashley Renee and Allisa Courtney Collins of the home; two step-children, Christopher Eugene Maggert, Jr. and Madison Nicole Maggert, of the home; one brother, Jimmie D. Collins of Hendersonville; one sister, Letha G. Collins of Forest City; one nephew, Jimi S. Ferguson of Forest City; his step-father, Roy L. Moore of Horse Shoe; mother and father-in-law, Ellen and Victor Hoots of Hendersonville; aunts, uncles, cousins , and other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, April 3, 2011, in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Conard officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Henderson County Little League Baseball and Youth Softball, c/o Aliva Collins, 177 Winsome Trail, Hendersonville, NC 28739.

I just wanted to give my condolences to your family. I am one of Chris’ teachers at West Henderson and my mother worked with Johnny at Selee. I know times like these are tough but the Lord has his plans. God Bless!

Johnny was an outstanding employee and a really good guy. We’ll miss him at SELEE, it’s just not the same without him. I enjoyed our chats on baseball, work, and family. If there’s anything we can do for Johnny’s family please let me know. e
