Kathleen L. Byrne

August 22, 1942 - January 19, 2024

08/22/1942 - 01/19/2024

Kathleen L. Byrne, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She was born on August 22, 1942, in New York City. Kathleen’s journey on this Earth lasted 81 years, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

When Kathleen was in her teens, her family moved to Staten Island, New York, where she graduated from New Dorp High School. She spent many years working in Manhattan, the city she called home. Later, she embarked on a new chapter, spending 20 years living at the Jersey shore, where she raised her family and discovered her passion for being an Antique dealer.

In pursuit of a peaceful retirement, Kathleen eventually relocated to Hendersonville, North Carolina, where she found solace and joy. It was there that she could fully enjoy her interests and indulge in her love for antiques, particularly those of the beautiful ladylike type. She had an eye for elegance and was captivated by perfume bottles, compacts, costume jewelry, and anything adorned with roses and sparkles. Kathleen’s shopping adventures were always accompanied by laughter, as she delighted in sharing stories and connecting with others. And of course, no day was complete without enjoying good pizza, one of her favorite delights.

Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband, John, who stood by her side through thick and thin. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Nora and her husband, Herb Wright of Bayville, New Jersey; as well as her son Sean, of Planet Earth; and her sister, Patricia DeFilippis. Finally, her best friend Carol, who was like a Thelma to her Louise, shared countless memories and laughter that will forever be treasured.

Kathleen’s passing is deeply mourned by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas R. Lawless and Marie McShane Lawless, as well as her cherished sister, Eileen Facciola; and favorite brother-in-law, John DeFilippis.

Services for Kathleen will be held privately.
