Louise Gibbs, 65, of Mills River, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at her residence after a brief illness. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Adolph and Tillie Bobbin. She lived in Pennsauken, NJ for over 40 years before moving to Henderson County in 2010.
Louise received her degree from Shippensburg University in PA and taught kindergarten for 37 years before retiring in 2007. She was a member of Delaware Valley Paleontological Society, and the Henderson County Rock and Mineral Society.
She had a love of the arts, especially pottery, and enjoyed quilting. She enjoyed going to the theater to watch plays, digging for fossils, and planting and tending her garden of flowers. She loved to travel and had seen many countries. Louise was an animal lover.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bob; two sons, Jesse Swartz and his wife Jessica, and Joseph Swartz, all of NJ; stepchildren, Cheryl Kovach, her husband David, and their children Alexandra and Jocelyn of TX, Andrew Galbraith of FL, and Jennifer Norman of NJ; sisters, Dorothy Venables and her husband Joseph, and Phyllis Bitsco and her husband Gene, all of NJ; four nieces and multiple great-nieces and nephews.
No service is planned at this time. Memorials may be made to County Animal Shelter, 1124 Old Rosman Hwy., Brevard, NC 28712.
