Margaret H. Howard, age 95, died on Tuesday, November 15 at the Elizabeth House. Her son, Ron, was with her at the time of her death.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, Margaret relocated to San Francisco to accompany her husband, Ronald A. Howard, Sr., who worked for the Federal Government. Ron Sr. died on September 16, 2008 at the age of 99. They had been married for 71 years. Margaret is survived by her son who lives in Hendersonville.
Margaret enjoyed entertaining, decorating, gardening, playing bridge and traveling. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Chancellor at the University of California at Berkeley during the student demonstrations in the late 1960’s and early 70’s. She and her husband moved to Baja California soon after retirement. Later, they moved to Escondido, California, Southern Pines, and Raleigh. For the past two and a half years, Margaret lived at Pine Park Retirement Community in Hendersonville. The staff at Pine Park are to be commended for the excellent care and love they provided Margaret. Thanks also goes to Four Seasons Compassion for Life Hospice and the Elizabeth House.
