Mark Ray Thomas, 56 of Hendersonville, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Pardee Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Henderson County, a son of the late William Clyde and Mildred Lewis Thomas. He was also preceded in death by a sister Judy Thomas.
He was a 1974 graduate of East Henderson High School and a US Army veteran. He was an Electrical Lineman, and had worked most recently for Pike Electric.
He was a former member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his two sons, Macky Thomas and his wife Estrie of Raleigh, Clyde Thomas of Hendersonville; one granddaughter Makinley Thomas; two sisters Margie Devine of East Flat Rock and Susie Penland of Fletcher; four brothers Ronald Thomas, Wayne Thomas, and Bill Thomas all of Hendersonville, and Rick Thomas of Marion; many nieces and nephews; and his former wife and mother of their sons, Linda Thomas.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Rev. Billy Ballinger and Rev. Robbie Glaspy will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the chapel and following the service at the home of Wayne and Debbie Thomas.

We were so sorry of hear of Mark’s passing. Unfortunately, we didn’t read it in the paper until days after the funeral. Our thoughts are prayers are with you during during this very sad time. Lean on the Lord’s grace for your strength!
Ronnie, I’m so sorry you lost your brother. I know you worried bout him. You’re all in my thoughts and prayers. Death of a loved one is hard…We don’t get over it….We have to live through it.

Mark was my big brother. I remember how I was so proud to tell everyone who he was when I was younger. He was handsome, smart and athletic. He had a great sense of humor, and would give you the shirt off his back.
Somewhere along the line he got lost in his life.
