Mary Edwards, 78, of Hendersonville, passed away Thursday morning at her daughterís residence after an extended illness. She was a lifelong resident of Hendersonville, the daughter of the late Harvey and Bessie Pruitt. She was the wife of the late Sam Edwards who died in 1975. She was also preceded in death by sons, Jimmy and Jeff Edwards; daughter, Linda Edwards; grandchildren, Maudie Ann Edwards, James Mark Edwards Jr. and Emmanuel Kody Edwards; great-grandchildren, Nathanial Reid Edwards and Mary Anne Coggins; sister, Betty McMahan; and a special daughter-in-law, Omagail Edwards.
She was a member of Upward Worship Center. She loved her family dearly and cherished the time she was able to spend with them. She never met a stranger and her home was always open for anyone. She liked to garden and listen to music. She enjoyed reading True Story magazines and loved to read her Bible.
She is survived by four sons, Keith and his wife Shirley Edwards of Easley, SC, Michael Edwards, Larry and his wife Ella Mae Edwards, and Bobby Edwards, all of Hendersonville; two daughters, Vickie and her husband Gordon Allen of Greenville, SC, Melissa and her husband Mark Edwards of Hendersonville; sisters, Ruth Honeycutt of Hendersonville, Dorothy Lanning of Marion; a special grandson, Dylan Edwards; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A service will be at 2:00pm Tuesday, March, 24, 2015 in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Pastor James Norman will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00pm Monday.
