Mattie Pearline Gaylord, 83, of Hendersonville passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Asheville Nursing and Rehabilitation after a long illness. Mattie was born in Conway, SC October 14, 1930 to the late Furman R. and Ollie Mae Collins. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Karen Baustert; two sisters, Julie Collins, and Onita Hucks; two brothers, Furman Levon Collins and Wendall Ray Collins. Mattie lived in Henderson County most of her life, and was a member of Hendersonville Church of God for over forty-nine years.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney Hardee and his wife Joyce of Conway, SC, Alfred Gaylord of Hendersonville; two granddaughters, Ashley Elizabeth Gaylord, and Nicole Eloise Lyons, both of Hendersonville; a grandson, Daniel James Baustert of Cliftland, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be at 3:00 pm Thursday in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Steve Morrison will officiate. Private entombment will follow the service in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
I am sorry to hear of Aunt Pearline’s passing. I know she had been ill for a long time. Momma would keep us informed about Aunt Pearline whenever she got any news. Still remember when Aunt Pearline would just show up at Momma house. She would pop in for a visit and just as quick she would gone again. but these visits meant a lot to Momma and Aunt Pearline I do believe. I know they wrote to each other often. Now they can visit with each other behind the pearly gates in heaven … I know your loss … losing Momma in February and now Aunt Pearline in August. Take care and God bless.
